  • Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning

Introduction

Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning was established in 1984

Founder Director (1986-1993)

Late Prof. Sultan Akhtar

Ex-Principal Women's College,

Ex-Chairman Department of Psychology, AMU.

The Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning was initially established to impart vocational skill training to the female students of A.M.U. and later extended to ex-students, external students and home makers. Liberalization and globalization, it has become imperative for women especially young girls to move beyond academic learning to pave the path of professionalism.  The Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning is an innovation of those concerned minds and visionaries, who promote women for their individualities as well as allow them to be independent.  The Centre is running in consonance with the education policy of modern India i.e. Parallel Education, Skill Development Mission etc.

The Centre has adopted the scheme of earning while learning since the last 36 years.  This scheme was launched to motivate the students. Its successful implementation has not only created enthusiasm about joining a skill programme but has also developed awareness and motivation among female students for their achievements and success.

Apart from this, the Centre gives opportunity to the weaker sections of the society with the aim of social upliftment of the underprivileged who can avail the facility to join these skill development courses.  The centre endeavours to provide knowledge and skill to the deprived women by organizing various Crash Courses in computer literacy,Textile Designing, Beauty Treatment, Flower Making, English Fluency Development, Painting etc., Orientation and Awareness Programmes, Workshops etc.

Self confidence, creative assertiveness and many more such positive qualities are inculcated in the students through  various co-curricular activities at the Centre including the Mehndi, Bridal, Poster Making and Best Out of Waste Competitions,Fabric Painting etc.  The centre is a growing organization working steadily in the direction of women empowerment.
