ABOUT THE CENTRE
First Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) Model EM-410 LS from Philips, Holland was purchased by University and installed around sometime in June, 1985 in the Central Electron Microscope Facility. This instrument served teaching community for about more than two decades and now is a part of museum of the Zoology Department, AMU. (Late) Prof. Mahdi Hasan, Padam Shree, Department of Anatomy, JNMC was appointed first Professor Incharge and served the Centre till his retirement.
The UNIVERSITY SOPHISTICATED INSTRUMENTS FACILITY (USIF) was established in the year 2011 as an independent Central Instrumentation Facility. With the initial and generous funding from Department of Science and Technology (DST) under Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) Program, the University has acquired state of the art ultra high resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) facilities from company JEOL, Japan at the cost of approximately Rs. 03 Crores. This facility is not open to only academic staff/scientists/research scholars of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh but USIF also invites users from other academic institutions, research laboratories and industries.
