Mohsinul Mulk Hall
Syed Mehdi Ali Khan Mohsinul
Mulk was born in 9th December, 1837 in Etawah. He obtained his
primary education from his home, after his higher studies, he became civil
servant under British Government from 1867 to 1874. From 1874-1893, he held the higher post under
the Nizam. He was a big supporter, true follower and good friend of Sir Syed
Ahmad Khan. Syed Mehdi became secretary of Mohammadan Anglo Oriental College from
1889 till his death in 16th October, 1907.
About the Hall
& Residents
Mohsinul Mulk Hall was
established in the year 1963 in the fond memory of Nawab Mohsinul Mulk. The
foundation stone of Mohsinul Mulk Hall was laid by Pandit Jawaher Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. It started
with one Hostel namely ?Amin Hostel? attached to Aftab Hall. It comprises six hostels which were named after
the true followers of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan: (i)Allama Shibli hostel (ii)Amin hostel (iii) Saifi hostel (iv) Hali hostel (v) Mualana Mohd. Ali Johar hostel and (vi) Majaz
hostel. Dr. M. Hashim Kidwai was the first Provost of
this Hall from 04.11.1963 to 04.07.1968.
At present near about 820
residents/students are residing in Mohsinul Mulk Hall.
