About the Department

The Department of Ilmul Amraz is a newly created Department in the Faculty of Unani Medicine. It had come into existence in 2006 under XI Five Year Plan but has been officially declared on 2nd December, 2011 after separation from the Department of Kulliyat, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College.

Prior to the separation of the Department the teaching and training of Ilmul Amraz carried out through the Department of Kulliyat. The objectives to establish this Department in the Faculty of Unani Medicine are to fulfill the mandatory requirements of CCIM and to develop theoretical and practical skills of Mahiyat-ul-Amraz. It will develop confidence in the students to establish their own laboratories independently. It would provide information and details how a disease develop and how to use classical and modern equipments in the diagnosis of diseases.

With adoption of modern technological advancement, the establishment of the Department shall certainly provide a milestone to the Unani System of Medicine imparting quality education and training in the discipline. The regulatory authorities i.e. C.C.I.M. and AYUSH have also granted the permission to start PG course in the discipline. It is expected that the Department will start the postgraduate course which has a tremendous employment potential.
