The Department of Amraz-e-Jild wa Zohrawiya (Unani Dermatology & Venerology) came into existence in December 2011 which has played a pivotal role in development of integrated teaching , clinical training and clinical research with utmost advancement.The teaching of Amraz-e-Jild wa Zohrawiya is imparted both at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level.

The Amraz-e-Jild wa Zohrawiya has been given great emphasis by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India because of its enriched classical literature in Amraze Jild (Skin Disorders) along with Tazeeniyat (Cosmetology). AYUSH Ministry, Government of India has identified Unani Dermatology as an area of strength in Unani System of Medicine on the basis of its historically documented work by various learned Unani scholars like Avicenna / Ibn-e-sina (980-1037AD), Majusi, Tabri (828-870AD) and Zakaria Razi (841-926AD) etc. Zakaria Razi even wrote a separate volume on Unani Dermatology & Cosmetology in his book "Al Havi Fit Tib", Vol-23.

Recently central council of Indian Medicine has notified in the Gazette notification, the new name of the Department for its further specialization , by adding Tazeeniyat ( Unani Cosmetology) in place of Amraz-e- Zohrawiya with our deptt.

Globally Unani System of Medicine has been recognized as an "Evidence based system of medicine". We are continuously doing efforts with modern parameters to evolve formulations, guidelines and principles of treatment in the field of Amraz-e-Jild wa Zohrawiya and Tazeeniyat (Unani Cosmetology) with integrated approach. The work carried out in the field of Amraz-e-Jild wa Zohrawiya by the faculty members is quite satisfactory in the form of publications of textbooks, reference books, atlas as well as national & international research papers in reputed journals with good impact factor.

A part from teaching and training of students the faculties of this department are also providing health care to the public through OPDs and IPDs of Ajmal khan Tibbiya college hospital along with various dermatological laboratories related facilities for the public at their larger interest and in the interest of the system. In near future we are determined to begin new super specialty clinics for Bars (vitiligo), Da-us-sadaf (psoriasis), Eczema, Dermatomycoses (Fungal infection of skin ) and Dermatitis etc. keeping in mind the demographic studies showing the continuous increase in the incidence of these diseases.
