Brief History:
This department was established in 1993. Department is providing MD degree to two students every year from 1994. MD degree has been recognized by the MCI in 2007. The faculty include 3 professors,, three assistant professors and three senior residents.There are admission wards with 55 beds. Department is successfully running national tuberculosis control program (RNTCP) since 2003. The daily average OPD turnover is 250-300 .patients and admission rate is almost 100 %. More than 200 research papers, articles and case reports have been published by the department. Many research projects have been awarded to the department by different agencies. Many fellowships of national and international chest colleges have been awarded to its faculty. There are all the modern diagnostic facilities in the department including video bronchoscope, thoracoscope, PFT with diffusion coefficient,Sleep lab etc
Drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis management started in DR ward in ward 13. There are 12 bed in the ward .
These patients are diagnosed by sputum smear and LPA . All the medicine for tuberculosis, MDR and XDR are given free to all patients.. .
