About the Department
The Department of Plant Protection was established in 2000 with the creation of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. Earlier Plant Protection was a section of the Institute of Agriculture that was sanctioned by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, New Delhi in 1993. The Department offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs with specialization in Entomology and Plant Pathology & Nematology. Faculty of the Department has published around 900 research papers, review articles etc. in the referred international and national journals, and 8 authored/edited books from USA, Germany and India. Faculty of the department has got sanctioned 15 major research projects from ICAR, NATP, UGC, DBT, DST, UPCST, UPCAR etc. with a total grant of over Rs. 15 million. The department is also a Centre for All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Plant Nematodes.
