BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE GRANT SECTION, C.A.O., A.M.U.
Initially the Grant Section was not a separate section and was clubbed with Bills and Advance Section but gradually the grants from UGC, DST, DBT, ICAR, MHRD, CCRUM, DAE and NHM etc. increased considerably and the need of separating the Grant Section as independent unit aroused, therefore, the Grant Section started working as independent unit since 1984.
At present, there are 114 research projects (Major/Minor) running in the Grant Section. The number of projects may vary from time time. The Major/Minor Projects are SAP, DSA, CAS, DRS, DST Fist Programmes, DST Purse Programme, TEQIP-III, CARET, CWC, SWINGS and NHM etc. These Major/Minor Projects are funded by University Grant Commission (UGC), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Ministry of Minority Affairs (MMA) and National Health Mission (NHM) etc.
Grant sanctioned for three off Campus Centres of AMU viz. Malappuram, Murshidabad & Kishanganj are also being taken care in the Grant Section.
The Government of India has initiated the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), therefore funds are directly received from Government of India through PFMS and the Grant Section is maintaining the receipt and expenditure on the UGC/Ministry of Finance Portal (PFMS).
After completing the Plan, the UGC/MHRD has sanctioned the grant under Capital Assets-35 (Books, Building, Equipment & Other Infrastructure) which is dealt by the Grant Section.
The Grant Section also prepares its own Balance Sheet which is merged with the Annual Accounts of the University.
There are 12 staff members working in the Grant Section (including one Joint Finance Officer, one Assistant Finance Officer and three Section Officers) under the guidance and supervision of the Finance Officer.
